Northeast Search and Rescue Services got a boost from industry.

Spectra Energy presented a $40000 cheque to the Northeast BC Search and Rescue Groups, which covers search and rescue services from Tumbler Ridge to Fort Nelson. Brian Lamond, Director of Emergency Preparedness for Spectra Energy and a search and rescue volunteer says ongoing support from industry and the Peace River Regional District are critical to keep the operation viable

"You can't imagine the sort of weight that gets lifted off as a volunteer organization" with reliable funding provided by the Regional District, says Lamond. He adds that since Search and Rescue volunteers do not have to spend time raising funds, they are able to continue training and remain ready in case of emergencies.

Search and rescue services are operated out of Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, and Fort Nelson
