Eddie Fisher earned more headlines in the gossip papers than hits on the pop charts, but he was one of the more reliable singers around mid-century, and this Jasmine compilation includes more of his material than virtually any other set ever released. Of course, "Lady of Spain" appears early on, as does his pair of duets with Perry Como, "Maybe" and "Watermelon Weather." Fisher didn't record much in the way of popular American songs (he preferred new material instead), but there are a few instances here -- "I'm in the Mood for Love," "Everything I Have Is Yours," "You'll Never Know" -- that portray the influence of the crooner era on his career.
