The Advent - Light Years Away

Cisco Ferreira's Advent LP for the Electrix label owned by Billy Nasty is an eight-track trip through throwback electro, and comes as a familiar journey to those who know his work on Kombination Research with ex-partner Colin Mcbean. Highlights, though, are harder to find on this record than is usual with The Advent. Ferreira's tracks here aren't distinctive enough for a mix set, and he rarely ventures into the unfamiliar territory that might excite electro fans looking for a good headphone record. The fourth track, though, begins an effective left-field mini-set, paced by an update of Reggie Griffin's electro-funk classic "Mirda Rock" and the Drexciyan bubble techno of "Mind and Spirit." ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
