Dead Machines are an improvising duo from Ypsilanti, MI, that utilize rewired electronics, homemade reed instruments, and metal percussion to create hazy post-psychedelic landscapes. Husband and wife John Olson, who also plays in Wolf Eyes, and Tovah O'rourke, who is also one of the minds behind the Polyamory imprint, formed the group in 2003. They released a spate of limited CDs and tapes before Ecstatic Peace released the vinyl-only Human Brain Wasting Syndrome in 2004. Their first widely available CD, Futures, was released by Troubleman in 2005. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide
