Dr. Dave Burns is one of three musicians with this name, not including the doctorate, who are listed in the Tom Lord discography of recording jazz and blues musicians. It is the latter genre that has mostly absorbed this bassist over a career that has lasted more than three decades. His main association on disc has been with the band Big Al And The Heavyweights, based out of the port of Mobile, Alabama and exporting a blend of rhythm and blues and Cajun that has resulted in a large following.
