Apology Accepted
Treaty Eight Tribal Association says it has accepted an apology from BC Hydro after the public company accidentally drilled on land within the boundaries of a recorded archaeological site. The incident occurred while BC Hydro Crews were for digging a sump during geotechnical investigations in 2008. Keith Henry is the Site C Negotiator for Treaty 8 Tribal Association. He says the officially apology process concluded with a cultural performance and meal shared between the BC Hydro Team, and T-8-T-A. The digging was being conducted as part of preliminary field work being done ahead of Site C. Treaty Eight includes 6 First Nation communities composed of Fort Nelson First Nation, Salteau First Nations, West Moberly First Nations, Prophet River First Nations, Halfway River First Nations, and Doig River First Nations.
