Most know Colin Mcbean from his work as a member of techno duo The Advent, with techno producer Cisco Ferreira. The pair met after Mcbean moved to London from Derby to study fashion, where he worked with well-known designers such as Issey Miyake. While in London, Mcbean had met Keith Franklin from Bang The Party, leading to the formation of Kcc, a DJ trio including Mcbean, Franklin, and Ferreira. By 1990, Mcbean and Ferreira were working as a duo, eventually releasing their seminal work on the Internal label -- along with an impressive EP on Tresor, Sound Sketches -- before starting their own label, Kombination Research. In 1999, the duo split up, and Mcbean began producing solo material as G Flame and Mr. G., a moniker under which he released techno-influenced house records on labels such as Mike Grant's Detroit-based Moods & Grooves label. ~ Jason Birchmeier
