Coming from East Oakland, J-dubb's style of rapping tends to feature the traditional gangsta subject matter -- money, sex, drugs, power, ghetto life, and staying true to the streets -- much in the spirit of his West Coast peers, particularly the Bay Area camp surrounding Ant Banks, Too Short, and E-40. In 1995, J-dubb released Game Related, which didn't do well nationally but established his presence on the West Coast.
