Atlin Man Charged with Murder of Common Law Wife
The murder of a Fort Nelson woman is a step closer to being solved. On Monday, May 12, Alan Richard Carlick, 42, of Atlin made his first court appearance in Atlin Provincial Court in connection with the second degree murder of Lana Capot Blanc. Carlick, who was living common law with Capot Blanc for over one year, was arrested on May 9th, 2008 after a lengthy investigation. Capot Blanc's was discovered in a trailer behind the Pioneer Hotel in Fort Nelson on August 5, 2007, suffering from serious injuries. Police were called to the home after neighbors reported overhearing a violent argument in the trailer court. Capot Blanc was taken to the Fort Nelson Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. Carlick was questioned that evening in connection to the death, although, charges were not laid until nearly a year later when enough evidence had been collected to go to trial. Carlick remains in police custody.
